Matthew Ahrens
Principal
As a seasoned real estate executive Matthew Ahrens brings strategic, cycle-tested experience and deep understanding of the commercial real estate business to every conversation. Matthew is a trusted advisor to real estate operating companies, institutional investors, and ultra high net worth family offices across the United States.
Prior to forming Echo Mountain Capital, Matthew led Rising Realty Partners’ acquisitions activities, including sourcing, underwriting, financing, and closing transactions. During his tenure at Rising, Matthew closed approximately 6 million square feet of opportunistic investments in the Western US with a total capitalized value of $1.7 billion.
Prior to joining Rising, Matthew worked for Principal Real Estate Investors, the real estate investment subsidiary of the The Principal Financial Group. While at Principal, Matthew was involved in the securitization of more than 200 commercial real estate loans with a total loan balance of more than $1 billion. In a subsequent role, Matthew provided investment credit analysis on a $7 billion portfolio of commercial mortgage backed securities.
Matthew has Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Accounting from Iowa State University, and a Master's Degree in Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California. Matthew is an active member of NAIOP.
